  • Are you Travelling with children?
Both long haul and short haul flights can be very tedious for children. Although most aircraft have superb entertainment programmes on board these days, I have found when travelling with my children that a new backpack or roll-a-board (children's size, of course), filled with several new and inexpensive toys, colouring book and crayons, and a few of their favourite treats kept us all sane. We would take out 1 item at a time, and usually had about 1 new thing for each hour of travel. Of course, you need to make sure that you comply with any airline or quarantine requirements, and remember that any fruit you take which is not consumed, will need to be deposited in quarantine bins on arrival at your destination, however I felt that my sanity (and other passengers') was worth that possibility, and my children were regularly complimented on their good behaviour throughout the flight.
  • I also always take a spare set of clothes to change the children into just before arrival, that way any accidents along the way do not cause a major problem, and everyone feels better after a wash and change.
