Kilimanjaro National Park

The clock is ticking for the receding snows atop Kilimanjaro, so there's no time like the present to ascend its 19,336 feet. (5,895m).

This volcanic massif stands in splendid isolation above the surrounding plains, with its snowy peak looming over the savannah. The mountain is encircled by mountain forest. Numerous mammals, many of them endangered species, live in the park.

Although it's the highest freestanding mountain in the world, the trekking routes are manageable, traversing from tropics to Arctic. Look for elephants, primates and antelope around its lower reaches.

Witness something truly special, record it for your family and talk about it for the rest of your lives. This is a holiday you will never be able to better!

Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park is a small but scenic safari park, excellent for bird watching and a good area to find elephant, as well as the potential excitement of spotting a legendary Lake Manyara tree-climbing lion. It is ideally suited for a few hour’s exploring and wildlife watching at the start of a safari and/or a morning at the end, as it lies on route to and from Ngorongoro and the Serengeti.

At the northernmost aspect, close to the park gates, the forest and woodlands are fed by streams of freshwater flowing through the porous volcanic rock here, but further south, around the Msasa River, the volcanic rock gives way to ancient, crystalline rock, creating impressive waterfalls down the Rift Valley escarpment.
